A Good Girl's Guide to Murder
After years of reading standalone novels, this was the first book I read which was part of a series (or trilogy) and jeez, it was worth it. Thriller genre always fascinated me, I mean Dan Brown is one of my favorite writers after all, but apart from him, my only other thriller read came from reading 13 reasons why (a fantastic book btw).
So coming to the book, it was great, unlike the recent books I have read, even the initial page had a high pace, that just kept me in the hook. The unique style Holly Jackson has taken with this book with all the messages stuff, news snippets, it feels as if you're living in that world yourself, that was excellent world building and I adored that so much! The plot was great too, it revolves around a girl conducting her own investigation in a 5 year old murder mystery as part of her school project, and despite the third person narrative, you feel every thread of her investigation as if you were in her shoes, the characters are diverse too, some you will adore, some you will despise!
The climax or the final third of the book is the strongest point for me, it just keeps you hooked, I couldn't keep the book down until the last page flew by and I did't even realize how much time I was just immersed between the pages.
If you wanna read a thriller that grips you and never lets you go, this is it! I assure you, the plot is not predictable, and you certainly won't expect the climax.
