GD or Debate?

Today was my placement drive, and the first round was supposed to be GD (Group Discussion), and wow, it was a war out there. It was just a free brawl out there. Students were literally shouting to assert their dominance, I mean I saw 3 students shouting at the same time. You know what is the funny thing? Nobody got the actual essence of the topic, everyone of them` that bothered to speak (more like shout) misinterpreted the topic. I didn't speak one word, why? Because I can't do that, I can't shout at someone to assert my point or cut someone off, that is not me, and will never be me. Besides I'm glad, I didn't waste my time in the further processes, because if this is the style of their GD, I doubt how their office environment will be. There's a very thick (not thin!) line between a debate and GD, and today, I saw it being crossed so many times that I lost count actually.
