Project Hail Mary
Confession time, the movie hype forced me to read this. I originally wished to watch the movie, which I usually don’t btw, but due to some issues that were outside my control, I couldn’t, so while waiting for the OTT release, I just went for the book, and I’m glad that I did.
It was my first sci fi book and wow, it might be one of the best books I’ve ever read.
Yes, it’s nerdy and geeky at times, especially while explaining and describing the science thingy, but the plot never lets you off the hook, the characters stay with you together, you hate them, you like them, but you won’t forget them.
And the first person narrative is so well done, wow. You just become Grace while being lost between the pages. And the dynamic between rocky and grace is so well done, can’t believe one of the best relationship/association/friendship I have ever read is between a human and a rocky alien of all things but that’s the beauty of this.
Made me even remember our own unexpected beginning of our brief but beautiful friendship, but now she hates me, so there's that. You root for them, you yell at them, you just become a part of them and when the book ends, you won’t be able to stop yourself from grinning or stopping those happy tears.

A beautiful beautiful tribute to (unexpected) friendship packaged in a brilliant sci fic masterpiece.
