Remarkably Bright Creatures
Wow, this book started off as slow, really really slow (kinda like "all the light we cannot see"), but damn, it gripped me till the end, I mean I was digging through the climax of the book till 4AM yesterday! I was so memerizied by the book, that I even watched the adaptation today, which is uncommon for me as I wait before watching the adaptation of a book usually. There are 3 main charatcers and their respective perspectives/POVs that guide us through the plot of the book, one is Tova, a 70 year old woman just living her life alone while enjoying her job as a cleaner at a local aquarium, then there's Cameron, a rebellious 30 year old that is on a hunt to find his long lost dad after he gets the intel about him after he gets the news of his estranged mother's death. But as life has it, even tho both Cameron and Tova start the story in completely different places, faith takes them to one place, the aquarium, where the third main protagonist plays his roles to perfection as he connects these two, in hopes of healing both of them and their own tragedies. This third character, as you may have known is the glue of the book, and is infact the most important character in the whole book too, who is he you'll ask? His name is Marcellus, and no, he isn't a human at all, he is a pacific octopus! Yes, an octopus is the main plot device of this whole book, that pushes and carries the whole narrative. This is what makes this whole book so much more beautiful, or should I say remarkable. This will make you cry, multiple times infact, happy and sad tears, both of 'em. But one thing I can assure, you won't be disappointed, this will fill the hole you might be having in your heart for anything or anyone. A MUST READ, and bonus: the adaptation is really really good too.
