THE KITE RUNNER
I’m used to reading books that make you cry, I have read many. This was something different tho, you could feel the agony, the screams, the tears, the violence was just so overwhelming and intense at times but that’s what made it feel surreal, horrific but surreal. The characters are far from perfect, they are flawed to their core but they grow, not by choice but by circumstances especially the protagonist, Amir. The last few chapters were tough to go through, I was just dumbstruck and speechless, fortunately the book ended on a hopeful and positive note. It ended almost poetically too, a simple sentence being repeated from the initial part, that made me cry. “For you, a thousand times over.” A thousand times indeed, this was special.
