THE MIDNIGHT TRAIN
Well, I knew I had to read this when I came to know that this one was releasing this year! Last month only ig too. I had to because I kinda adored the midnight library by the same writer even tho it didn’t hold a good reputation among the book crowd.
Anyways, this was an improvement over the midnight library easily. Instead of multiple short but linked stories, this book followed a single lifetime told via moments in the form of a train journey with stops quite literally representing the moments of a life. It’s a beautiful journey that you feel through the pages, as if you’re also a passenger on the midnight train too, experiencing those moments, those memories, those stories, and that’s what makes this book so damn gorgeous. It teaches you unintentionally, the value of broken promises, the value of love , the tradeoffs between work and life, way better than any self help non fiction can.
This book has parts where you would be yelling at the protagonist, cursing him for the things he does, there will be parts where you will bawl your eyes out, but by the time you turn the last page, there will be a smile on your face, that would be hard to erase, atleast for a while. I can vouch for that atleast.
So if you’re feeling lost, just read this and hop into the midnight train, you’re quite literally in for quite a great ride.
