The people on platform 5
Wow, I had high expectations from this book since I genuinely did like the authenticity project by the same writer, but this book easily surpassed it. It was fantastic, in no particular order of the book, did I feel like taking a break, it doesn’t have a weak point, it isn’t even slow paced, and has a great ending even if it might seem predictable. Every damn character is so beautifully written and wrapped up, and the plot is beautifully woven with all these characters, the chapters are told from each of their perspectives and wow, the plot is so so so well written, you see the same incident from different perspectives when the chapter changes, and that’s the best part of this book. You see the world through so many different lenses, and you just fall in love with the world, he train cabin, the platform. This book is right up there as my one of the best reads of 2026, if not the best, alongside Project Hail Mary and Remarkably Bright Creatures, and even tho this book might not have peaks like those two, what this book does have over them is a more consistent and compelling flow and pace, no slow start like remarkably bright creature, no scientific density of project Hail Mary, just light hearted plot that never fails to amaze you. Clare Pooley is quickly becoming my favourite writers!
